OUR STORY
The spirit of community and resilience fuels this upcoming event, born from an unexpected challenge. When Tivy Cross Country Coach Dee Heiner shared that devastating floods in Kerrville would prevent Tivy High School from hosting its annual cross country meet, organizers swiftly rallied.
Determined to support fellow athletes, they offered to host the race on Tivy’s behalf and return proceeds to the school’s cross country program. But one question changed everything: “Why stop there?”
That spark transformed the event into something greater—a community fun run and walk following the high school meet. What began as saving a race became a mission to help the entire Hill Country rebuild and heal. Proceeds from race entries and commemorative t-shirt sales will go to The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country to support families affected by the floods.
This is more than a race—it’s a Run for Resilience, uniting a community to rise stronger together.
Tracy Hesson ('88), Brooke Faust Ashcraft ('99), and Brandi Bode Robinson ('95) share a deep connection to the Texas Hill Country — especially Ingram, their hometown. All three are proud alumni of Ingram Tom Moore High School and passionate about giving back to the community that shaped them. All 3 of the organizers embody Ingram Pride Inside!
Tracy Hesson, Class of 1988
Tracy Hesson made history 40 years ago as Ingram Tom Moore High School’s first-ever state champion, winning the 2-mile run. She later returned to her alma mater as a coach, leading the girls Cross Country team — which included standout runner Brooke Faust — to a State Championship in 1997.
Tracy comes from a family deeply rooted in the local education system. Her father, James Hesson, was the first principal of Ingram Tom Moore High School and also served as Superintendent and Principal of Hunt School. Today, Tracy continues to lead and inspire young athletes as the Girls Athletic Coordinator and coach at John Paul Stevens High School in Northside ISD in San Antonio.
Brooke Faust Ashcraft, Class of 1999
A standout athlete and member of the 1997 State Championship Cross Country team, Brooke is the daughter of longtime coach, superintendent, and teacher Bruce Faust and educator Cindy Faust.
Today, Brooke is continuing her legacy of leadership and excellence as the Assistant Athletic Director and Cross Country Coach at Bandera High School.
Brandi Bode Robinson, Class of 1995
Brandi is the 1995 state champion in the shot put and the granddaughter of longtime Ingram ISD financial manager Mary Louise Leach. She’s the daughter of beloved Coach Dale and Linda Bode. Brandi coached at Ingram and went on to lead highly successful 6A track and field teams at Earl Warren High School in Northside ISD in San Antonio.
She now coaches at the middle school level in Kyle, continuing her commitment to young athletes.
Together, we’re committed to giving back to the place that gave us so much. The Hill Country is hurting — but we believe in its strength, its spirit, and its people. We are proud products of the Texas Hill Country, and we know without a doubt:
We are STRONGER THAN THE STORM.
Join us as we Run for Resilience — and help our community heal, rebuild, and rise.
